This version brings better elevation data, more control over flight altitude, and a handful of UI tweaks that save time and clicks. Let’s break it down.
Altitude Setting Just Got Easier
Until now, photogrammetry and corridor missions in UgCS required you to enter Ground Sample Distance (GSD) to set your altitude. It worked—but it wasn’t always practical, especially if you already knew the exact height you wanted to fly at.
With UgCS 5.9, you can now set the flight altitude directly. GSD is still there for those who need it, but if you want a more direct approach, you’ve got it.
This feature has been on users’ wish lists for a while. It gives pilots the flexibility and control they expect, especially in professional workflows where exact altitudes matter.
Better Terrain Following in the U.S.
If you’re flying in the U.S., UgCS now uses USGS 1/3 Arc Second elevation data by default. That’s a big leap in resolution—from one data point every 30 meters to one every 10 meters.
For you, that means:
- More accurate terrain following
- Smoother flight paths
- Safer missions in hilly or mountainous areas
No setup needed—just plan your mission like usual, and the higher-resolution data kicks in automatically.
Smarter UI, Less Clicking
UgCS 5.9 includes a few small tweaks that make a big difference in day-to-day use:
- Export Route button is easier to find (especially helpful for UgCS Open users).
- Top 5 drone models are now shown first when creating a route, because let’s face it, most of us fly the same few platforms over and over.
- Multi-camera drones like DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise now default to the wide-angle lens when planning photogrammetry routes. One less thing to change manually.
- The Visual Inspection route category now includes a Circle tool, perfect for orbiting around points of interest.
- And for new installations, No-Fly Zones (NFZs) are turned off by default, so you can start planning missions faster.
New DJI Drones Supported
This release also brings native support for DJI M3D and DJI M3TD drones—great news if you’ve added these to your fleet.
Available Now
UgCS 5.9 is live and ready to download. If you're planning missions in the U.S., the new elevation data will be used automatically.
