And based on our user feedback, we’re happy to say it’s not just talk. Over the past 12 months, we’ve rolled out updates, new features, webinars, and community efforts to make UgCS better for you. Here’s 2024 in UgCS Summarized. A look at what we accomplished and… A small sneak-peak on where we’re headed for 2025.
Major Product Developments
UgCS 5.0 – A New Interface. Built for Speed. April 2024.
In April, we launched UgCS 5.0 with a completely redesigned interface, but it was far from just an aesthetic change. We wanted to streamline your workflow and make mission planning faster, simpler & more efficient. Here’s what was included.
- A simplified route planning toolbar.
- Easier access to key features like elevation profiles and telemetry.
- New keyboard shortcuts for quick UI scaling and navigation.
The feedback? Overwhelmingly positive. Users told us it saved them time, reduced errors, and made UgCS more intuitive, especially for new users who are just starting. Learning UgCS is the quickest ever.
UgCS 5.5 - Circlegrammetry Tool. Next-Level Oblique Image Capture. October 2024.
Circlegrammetry. Released in October, it makes capturing oblique images for complex 3D models easier than ever. It is ideal for mapping towers, bridges, and tall structures.
This tool was designed for professionals who need precision. It’s available across all UgCS licenses, making it accessible to everyone. We’ve already seen users achieve impressive results with it and are excited to see what projects will be done in 2025.
UgCS 5.6. DSM Layer Support, Trajectory Smoothing. More Accurate Terrain Following. November 2024.
Flying over uneven terrain? Now, you can load separate terrain and surface models (DSM and DTM) to keep your drone at the right height over buildings, trees, or vegetation. This is crucial for missions where flights are not just over bare terrain but also over obstacles such as trees, buildings, etc.
We also added an experimental trajectory smoothing feature, allowing users to fine-tune flight paths for even better data quality. It’s especially useful for drone magnetometer flights, and LiDAR, where smooth paths mean more accurate models.
Smaller but Important Improvements
Throughout the year, we pushed dozens of smaller updates focused on performance, stability, and bug fixes. Some highlights:
- Support for Autel Evo MAX 4T/4N and Inspired Flight IF800 Tomcat drones.
- Light/dark mode switching to make it easier to use UgCS in the field in bright sunlight.
- Reduced CPU usage during emulations to improve performance on lower-spec devices.
- Improved waypoint handling for imported routes.
We know that small things add up. Every fix, tweak, and adjustment helps you get better results in less time. Our release notes provide a complete list of this year's tweaks to UgCS.
Community Efforts
2024 wasn’t just about the product. We also put more effort on building the UgCS community.
Facebook Group Growth
Our Facebook group grew to over 4,000 members. We started posting more regularly—case studies, tips, and updates. The goal? To create a space where professional pilots can learn, share, and connect. Expect even more in 2025, including challenges, polls, and exclusive content.
YouTube Channel Launch
In August, we launched the UgCS YouTube channel. It’s still new, but we’ve already posted tutorials & walkthroughs, naturally, with plans for more. Video content is a priority for us moving forward. It’s one of the best ways to show, not just tell, how UgCS can make a difference in your work.
Webinars
We hosted five webinars this year, covering topics like DJI integration, LiDAR flight planning, and UgCS 5.0. These sessions allowed us to engage directly with our users, answer any questions regarding the product and its functionality, and, of course - share insights. In 2025, we’ll continue running webinars, focusing on real-world use cases and advanced drone mission planning.
UgCS is Becoming the #1 Choice for Complex Drone Planning
UgCS was built for professionals who demand precision. Users choose UgCS because it helps them, and listens to them. We’re here for you.
- Plan complex missions effortlessly. Whether it’s LiDAR, photogrammetry, or corridor mapping, UgCS offers advanced tools that simplify the process.
- Operate in remote areas. Offline map and elevation caching means you can work without an internet connection.
- Use any drone. With support for DJI (including Matrice 4 Series Drones), Ardupilot, PX4, and Autel, you’re not locked into a single platform.
In 2025, we’re doubling down on these strengths. We want UgCS to become even better in complex mission planning. Whether you’re flying in the mountains, over dense forests, or through urban environments, UgCS will guide your drone safely and accurately, gathering the precise data you need.
Looking Ahead - 2025 Perspectives for Professional Drone Pilots
Here’s what you can expect from UgCS in 2025:
More Advanced Features
We’ll continue developing tools that give professional pilots an edge. Expect refinements to trajectory smoothing, new payload integrations, and more flexible mission planning options.
Better Learning Resources
Our YouTube channel & website will grow with new tutorials and case studies. We’ll also release more practical guides.
Community Engagement
We want to hear from you & listen to your feedback and ideas. In-app, off-app, online and offline. In our Facebook Group, you can expect more polls, discussions, and challenges.
Focus on Real-World Use Cases
Everything we build is based on real-world feedback. Whether you’re inspecting powerlines, monitoring crops, or mapping terrain, we want to make your job easier.
A Final Thank You
None of this would’ve been possible without you - our users. Your feedback, questions, and suggestions drive our development. Whether you’ve been with us for years or just joined in 2024, thank you for trusting UgCS with your missions.
In 2025, we wish you all smarter flights, better data, and more successful missions.
